Farleygreene’s Sievgen Unit Shortlisted for PPMA Group Industry Award: Innovative Processing System

19th September, 2018

Hampshire – Farleygreene Ltd, worldwide provider of industrial sieving equipment, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Processing & Packaging Machinery Association (PPMA) Award for Innovative Processing System.

The PPMA Award for Innovative Processing System is intended to recognise process machinery manufacturers who have engineered or adopted a processing system that led to significant productivity improvement and/or cost reduction.

For 42 years Farleygreene have been providing the highest quality sieving equipment to a range of industries within manufacturing, and more recently, the Additive Manufacturing (AM) arenas.

The machine shortlisted for the award is their Sievgen 04 unit, which falls under Farleygreene’s range of sieving solutions for the AM industry. Since its first release to the market in 2015, the unit has been constantly improved in line with changing requirements. It remains the most advanced, user friendly powder recycling system on the market.

Recycling fine metal for AM is both time consuming and potentially dangerous, but it is a necessity due to the high costs of powder. Sievgen 04 streamlines the powder recycling process in the AM industry, combing both conveying and sieving into a single unit. It minimises the need for manual handling throughout the powder handling process, keeping both the powder and user safely separated.

“Sievgen 04 is aimed at minimising effort and downtime, making the powder handling process as automated as possible.” said David Buckley, Product Manager at Farleygreene. “The market itself is growing very quickly, and this means that requirements are changing rapidly, a challenge for any design team. Over the years we have worked closely with a few market leading service bureaus to get the vital customer requirements for their ideal solution, and then designed a product that was truly fit for purpose.”

The award winners will be announced at the Group Industry Awards ceremony on 25th September, the first day of the 2018 PPMA Show at the Birmingham NEC. This year is the awards 7th year of bringing together more than 400 industry professionals and influencers from the world of processing and packaging machinery. Entries will be appraised by a judging panel made up of 10 independent industry experts, ranging from academia, end-users, editors and engineers.
